SplitNose Rockfish (New Offering)
We are thrilled to offer a new species of fish to our members, splitnose rockfish! What these delicious fish lack in size, they make up for with flavor and presentation. Beautiful, bright, red skin and a delicate, yet firm and fatty meat make this the perfect fish to serve for dinner. We have been offering splitnose to our restaurant partners and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback, so now its your chance to give it a try! Since they are a smaller rockfish, all orders will be delivered “pan-ready” - meaning that we will scale and clean the fish, and then trim any sharp fins or spikes, so that you can simply throw it in a hot pan once you are ready!
You can feel great about eating these fish because our partners at SeafoodWatch consider Split-nose rockfish caught by the F/V Miss Moriah to be a “Best Choice.” The Miss Moriah crew volunteered to have cameras on board that are monitored by the Nature Conservancy to ensure 100% transparency regarding their catch. They are one of five boats in the world that do this.

*Pan-ready means the fish has been cleaned, gutted, scaled, the head has been removed, and the fins have been trimmed so they will be ready to season and throw into a pan or the oven!*
Chilipepper rockfish is a FreshCatch favorite! Whats not to like about flakey, mild, and forgiving whitefish fillets?! These are our go-to fish for fish tacos or fish ‘n chips. Just like the split-nose, they travel in large schools and feed on small crustaceans, small squids, or small fishes such as anchovies, young hake, and small sardines. They mature quickly, reproduce in great volumes, and give birth to live young (as opposed to laying eggs) like many rockfish.
All of the fish we offer from the F/V Miss Moriah are caught in special light nets with holes large enough to allow smaller fish to escape. Underwater cameras are attached to them that allows our captain to target very specific schools of fish. Camera's on board the boat set up by the Nature Conservancy closely monitor what is brought on the boat to ensure 100% accountability and sustainability. Very few boats have this sort of outfitting which allows for nearly zero by-catch and an untraceable footprint on the ocean floor!

Petrale Sole is considered one of the best West Coast Soles! It has a beautiful white fillets that are light and flakey, with a delicate flavor and texture - a quick pan fry with butter, lemon, and herbs makes for the easiest and most delicious dinner!

Clams and Mussels
Now that we have built a stronger relationship with our partner fishing vessels and shellfish farms we are happy to announce that we will be offering a seasonal selection of seafood which will be offered consistently each week in addition to our "Catch of the Week." These are boats and facilities that we trust and know will offloading their products within 48 hours of delivery. Unfortunately, our partner boat in Santa Cruz will not be targeting Rock Crab or fishing out of Santa Cruz due to unstable harbor conditions regarding the safety of the dredging project. Additionally weather has made squid fishing less consistent so we will be putting them on hold until we are back into the swing of things.

gulf shrimp: Sold out!

Our Gulf shrimp are caught by Captain Lance Nacio on the F/V Anna Marie. We are extremely proud to sell his shrimp because he is one of the only family run operations in the United States that peel and devein their shrimp. Almost every single peeled shrimp that you see in grocery stores has been shipped across the world where it is peeled using cheap labor. Soft shell shrimp and peeled and deveined shrimp are available! Both shrimp options come frozen - almost 100% of shrimp that are available have been frozen multiple times - these are flash frozen on board the moment that they are caught to preserve their flavor.

Barnacle was started by Matt and Lia - they grew up in Southeast Alaska - and for years they have been making salsa and pickles from fresh Alaskan Bull Kelp for their friends and families.
