Yesterday Austin and I were up early in the morning picking up rockfish from F/V Miss Moriah in Half Moon Bay for our fish & chips and fish tacos. Then we drove down to Santa Cruz and picked up the first of the season King Salmon in Santa Cruz at 8pm - everyone at the dock could not stop talking about how our boat brought in the most beautiful salmon so far this season - so don't miss out on your chance to have the best salmon in the bay this weekend!

Get the first King Salmon of the season! 


This week we are celebrating the first of the season King Salmon from "nose-to-tail!" We’ll be picking up salmon this Thursday evening in Santa Cruz from one of our favorite boats the F/V Genesis captained by our friend Scott - Scott goes above and beyond any other boat when it comes to handling his fish so be ready to be impressed! Pick up will be available at Donkey & Goat Winery in Berkeley this Friday from 5-9pm - stop by grab your salmon and a bottle of natural wine to be the coolest person at the winery! 😎

King Salmon

We work with a handful of small boats from Moss Landing up to Half Moon Bay. We choose to work with family run operations whose passion and pride you can see in the quality of the fish when you receive them. 

Our fish our caught hook & line and pulled up one by one, with rubber coated nets that don't tear at their scales, once on board they are very quickly and humanely bled and then pressure bled to ensure the fishes meat stays pristine. 

They are then carefully placed in a refrigerated seawater system that keeps the fish incredibly fresh. 

Our fish are never thrown or held by their tails.
This destroys the quality & integrity of the meat. 
Please treat them with the same respect when you receive them! 

Our Partners at Seafood Watch consider these fish a Good Alternative - as we mentioned our local salmon run is a very precious resource that needs our support to continue to succeed! Please eat the whole fish, share it with people you love, share the story of our local salmon, and consider supporting your local salmon warriors - we love the work the folks over at Golden Gate Salmon Association do to ensure our waterways stay healthy and available for salmon to continue their journey to and from the sea!

Whole fish are $18/lb and will range between 7-12lbs

Yield from at whole fish is 50-60% for fillets however we encourage everyone to try making steaks if they don’t feel like filleting and to grill up the head & tail (ever had salmon cheeks before? They are the best piece of meat on the fish!) as well as the bones & scrapings! Every part can be used to make something delicious!

Whole fish will come gilled, gutted, and scaled - ready to cook!

We’ll also be serving up some delicious seafood at Donkey & Goat Winery this Friday! 

Come celebrate First Friday and the beginning of our local salmon season with us! This event is open to everyone including well behaved children and dogs! Enjoy the sun & some live music on their beautiful outdoor patio or the art show happening inside in their tasting room. 

We’ll be serving fresh oysters, fish & chips, fish tacos, shrimp and other bar bites (including vegan and vegetarian options)  to go with delicious natural wine pairings.
